Burkeen, the Republican county judge who was elected in 2010 and won an unopposed re-election bid in 2014, was stopped after an officer saw the muffler of a white Chevrolet Impala dragging on the street as the car traveled east in the 400 block of West Texas Avenue shortly after 2 p.m., according to the affidavit.

Burkeen stopped a few blocks away, near the intersection of South Front Street and East Limestone Street, the affidavit states.

Burkeen, 59, got out of his vehicle and approached the officer, according to the affidavit. Officers ordered Burkeen back to his car, and he complied.
