Kountze ISD bus driver believes DWI arrest was a 'set up'

A Kountze ISD bus driver charged on Friday with driving while intoxicated believes he was "set up" by an angry parent as retaliation for removing children from his bus.

Charles Harrison Reed, 63, was arrested at the Kountze ISD bus barn after a parent tipped off police. He was taken to the Hardin County jail, where he posted a $2,500 bond on Saturday.

A Kountze police spokeswoman on Monday called the tipster a "concerned parent" and said Reed was determined to be intoxicated "through a standard field sobriety test."

No students were on board the bus at the time of Reed's arrest on Friday afternoon, which was made after he completed his route.
