Seventh accuser testifies in sex abuse trial of ex-state psychiatrist
The second week of Dr. Charles Fischer’s sexual abuse trial ended with a seventh accuser saying he had inappropriate physical contact with the former state psychiatrist.
The man, 26, testified Friday he initiated oral sex with Fischer during their initial patient-doctor visit in 2004. The man was 14 at the time. The two of them had sex during subsequent visits, the man said.
It’s unclear if prosecutors will call more alleged victims to testify as it appears their case is winding down. Court documents show there are accusations from 10 patients of Fischer’s, the majority of them at Austin State Hospital.
Friday’s witness said he propositioned Fischer for oral sex after Fischer denied his requests to watch pornography and for Fischer to set him up with a female patient. The man said Fischer told him they could have oral sex, “but only if you want to.” Fischer arranged for some of their visits to be held in public, including the library, so others at the hospital wouldn’t be suspicious about the inappropriate side of their relationship, the man said.
