San Antonio officers violated city policy by wearing Donald Trump hats

A group of San Antonio police officers appeared to violate city policy when they posed for a video with Donald Trump wearing the Republican's "Make America Great Again" hats.

The officers, members of the department's motorcycle unit, had escorted Trump's motorcade to and from the San Antonio International Airport, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

The officers are shown in a video posted on Trump's Twitter account wearing uniforms that include the motorcycle unit's patch, and others are seen wearing tall riding boots. The unit frequently transports dignitaries when they visit the city, Mike Helle, president of the San Antonio Police Officers Association, told the Express-News.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus released the following statement Tuesday night:

"The officers wearing the campaign hats while in uniform violated SAPD policy and will be disciplined appropriately. SAPD officers are charged with protecting the entire community.

The officers displayed poor judgment. I expect them to know better than to give the appearance of endorsing a candidate while on duty and in uniform, regardless of the political campaign or the candidate."

....and I assume since they KNOWINGLY violated the policy, they will all be fired...right? Isn't that what you do to officers who disobey the rules? If they aren't fired, what's to stop it from happening again? Fire them all, take away any pensions, and send their little cry-baby asses home!
