AUSTIN — Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has reimagined today’s cover of the New York Daily News — which sent waves through social media Wednesday night and throughout the day Thursday. But his wording has some Twitter users scratching their heads.

In response to the San Bernardino shooting Wednesday that left 14 dead, the New York Daily News printed a front page featuring screenshots of tweets sent by top Republicans offering prayers to the victims. With a bold headline, the tabloid wrote: “GOD ISN’T FIXING THIS.” Patrick, who said he was “disgusted” by the cover, released his own cover Thursday afternoon that said “GOD HEARS OUR PRAYERS.”

After some mocked Patrick on Twitter for a potential misleading headline, Patrick deleted the post and said he was “disappointed” by people “who suggested a different meaning to our post on the tragedy yesterday in California.” ...
