App: More than 2,300 Texas government worker emails for 'sugar daddy' dating service

There are 2,340 Texas government workers who have accounts with a dating app that connects sugar daddies with the young and beautiful, according to a spokesman from the app SugarD.

The mobile service connects people by skipping the long questions and having folks swipe left or right on their potential dates. This is a similar take on apps such as Tinder, but now those looking for a sugar daddy or sugar baby have an alternative.

“In today’s dating scene, as long as you are legally allowed to date, age is no longer a major issue,” said SugarD spokesman Darren Shuster. “The reality is that there is a lot of older, eligible and financially stable men out there who are in the market for younger women, and they’re our target audience. Since SugarD is mobile, it will be more convenient for them to meet a young lady from among our database.”

Shuster said in a news release they were able to track the percentage of government workers on the app through the .gov e-mail addresses used. They also received ZIP code information to determine where users are located.

1. People who use a work email for anything other than

work are idiots.

My two sisters have always used their work emails for all of their personal emails. Which is totally dumb, and I've mentioned it to them once or twice, but they are oblivious to the danger.

Several years ago I had a job with a company email that once and only once I used to forward something to one of those sisters. Every single other time I wanted to do any sort of non-company emailing, I'd go to my personal email. I realize that most companies, and very probably the two I worked for during this period, can monitor what I send on my own account, but it seemed vastly better than using the company account.

A friend of mine who has a management sort of job with a major corporation, said she couldn't even do that, because her understanding was that anything at all she did on the company computer had to be totally work related.

2. These are the same people that scream the loudest when it hits the fan.

I use about a dozen email addresses for various things. One is for my home business, one is for all my financial stuff, two I use to keep in touch with my friends, the rest are either for specific reasons plus a couple of throwaways. I have a gmail box that I only use for posting things on youtube.
