GEORGETOWN -- Visiting Judge Doug Shaver has found Williamson County District Attorney Jana Duty guilty of contempt of court. He has sentenced her to 10 days in jail and a $500 fine.
Her lawyer said that Duty will be booked into jail before she is released on bond, and that the case will be appealed.
Shaver said Duty knowingly and intentionally violated a gag order in the Crispin Harmel case, knowingly and intentionally failed to appear in court and also knowingly and intentionally disrespected the court in her response and her veiled threats.
Shaver made his ruling immediately after attorneys presented closing arguments in the hearing.

(111,919 posts)Well, I was a bad influence in at least four different decades so I've done my duty to encourage deviancy. That's what a high-dollar edumacashun is about.
The running gag is going out to a meal with a group of students and alumni, then asking for a show of hands by everyone that has spent a night in the local lockup--you would be surprised by the number of people (including doctors and attorneys) that admit it.
