Democrat Chris Bell settles case with GOP group

Unsuccessful 2006 Democratic gubernatorial candidate Chris Bell has ended a long-running legal battle by agreeing to pay an undisclosed amount of money to the Republican Governors Association, a lawyer said Friday.

The out-of-court settlement ended Bell’s appeal that sought to overturn a 2014 court order requiring him to pay $300,000 in legal fees incurred by the Republican organization.

Bell, originally awarded $2 million, was ordered to pay $300,000 after losing on appeal.

A great Dem won his case, then lost on the GOPs appeal. Now he has to pay their court costs. What is good about that?
