Odessa doctor and business partner shot in murder/suicide.

ODESSA, TEXAS -- Longtime Odessa doctor Suresh Gadasalli was shot to death Thursday afternoon at the Healthy Heart Center, leading a number of law enforcement agencies to block off several city blocks near downtown as they searched an hour for an active gunman who was also found dead.

According to an Odessa Police Department news release, witnesses said 60-year-old patient and business associate Ayyasamy Thangam shot the 53-year-old Gadasalli multiple times.

Thangam then closed the door of the room the two men were in and witnesses heard another, single gunshot, according to the release.

A large number of law enforcement officers swarmed the outside of the Healthy Heart Center when responding to the report of an active gunman at about 4:33 p.m. Thursday.

They are closing the investigation, but never found a motive for the shooting.
