Fresh is so much better than dried though. Mine turned out so yummy today. Greens, collard and turnip, with garlic and bacon. Southern fried peppered chicken.

Happy New Year! Good luck on the cooking!

Ham fatally shot Cochran during a police stop on U.S. 33 near the Woodridge subdivision.

Afterward, the Virginia State Police conducted a four-month probe into the shooting. The results of that investigation were brought before a grand jury last week, and Ham was indicted on a charge of voluntary manslaughter.

After the incident, Cochran's friends and family said the killing was unwarranted, and the teen's mother said she believed her son was running away with his 15-year-old girlfriend when the shooting occurred.

I can't tell a difference in the taste from black-eyed peas, color a bit different, maybe not quite as flavorful. I mixed mine with rice and some chopped sausage. Eaten with some wild hog grandson shot, butchered, and son smoked on grill! Deeelicious! Also had stuffed mushrooms and roasted asparagus with balsamic vinegar. Best New Year's dinner I've ever had!
