An employee of the Texas Water Development Board is accused of submitting 27 fraudulent doctor notes to escape work sporadically during a 1 1/2-year period ending in 2011, costing the state tens of thousands of dollars in sick leave, a recent indictment says.
Some of the faked notes said that Kelly Lee McCarty could not work, including one submitted in July 2009 that said she should be "on full bed rest for the next five days," the indictment states.

McCarty faces 27 counts of tampering with a governmental record, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
She also is charged with one count of theft by a public servant based on accusations that she stole pooled donated sick leave time worth more than $20,000 and less than $100,000. That charge is also a second-degree felony.

Absolutely brilliant!
As a former state employee, I'm an advocate of paying state employees fair wages to attract the best and avoid the scammers and cheats.

You could post my cousin and her husband's pic on that wall. Yes, both white. Yes, both Tea Party members.
And yes, calling me for money to buy their niece a Birthday gift. And yes, Christian to the core.
And yes, I sent the money. Their niece should not suffer because of them. Sometimes the hypocrisy is heavy.
Happy Birthday to that wonderful girl...
