Texas prosecutor's Facebook posts about Obama, Trayvon Martin being reviewed

BEAUMONT Derogatory comments a federal prosecutor in Southeast Texas made about President Barack Obama and Trayvon Martin on Facebook are being reviewed, an official said.

The Beaumont Enterprise reported (http://bit.ly/19sV6Di ) John Craft, an attorney in the criminal division of the Eastern District of Texas, wrote on a private Facebook page that "low information voters" helped get Obama re-elected. He referred to Obama as "Dalibama."

Craft also posted an image of a graphic that said: "Obama: Why Stupid People Shouldn't Vote."

The newspaper said it received an email of a screen capture of Craft's Facebook interactions, with the name of the other participant redacted.

1. Oh, but he isn't racist or anything ...

"How are you fixed for Skittles and Arizona watermelon fruitcocktail (and maybe a bottle of Robitussin, too) in your neighborhood? I am fresh out of "purple drank." So, I may come by for a visit. In a rainstorm. In the middle of the night. In a hoodie. Don't get upset or anything if you see me looking in your window...kay?"

Nothing racist about that.

2. Wow, he's definitely not racist. If I were him,

I'd be a wee more careful when posting anything in public.

3. Maybe we need a new graphic

With this guy's picture that says "Why stupid people shouldn't be federal prosecutors". Because he's obviously stupid. Just saying. Hope he gets more than just a fine or something lame like that. If someone in his position did this with a Republican administration in office, even on their private messages and posts, you know the right wing would be asking for their heads.

Bales regretted that Craft's comments were in the public domain but said that the almost 5,000 federal prosecutors employed nationwide were entitled to their opinions of public issues. He added that it didn't appear Craft made his comments as a federal prosecutor.

4. A two to three month suspension without pay

seems appropriate to me. Nothing troubles a Republican more than getting hit in the pocketbook.

I'm glad to see you are posting again--I noticed that you were gone for a few weeks.
