Details leaked of the proposed faculty contract that ended three-day strike at state universities
The strike-ending tentative agreement that faculty union at the 14 state universities struck with the State System of Higher Education provides professors with annual pay increases over the contract's three-year life as well as some health plan and other changes.
Details of the agreement leaked to PennLive before the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties released them publicly show those faculty employed at the time of the contract's ratification immediately receive a step increase retroactive to last spring of 2.5 percent for more senior faculty (or cash payment in that amount for those at the top of salary schedule) and 5 percent for junior faculty.
All faculty also will immediately receive a general pay increase of 2.75 percent retroactive to the start of the current semester. Then next fall, the 5,300 professors covered under this contract would receive a general pay increase of 2 percent.
The current base salary for full-time faculty ranges from $46,609 to $112,239. Part-time faculty are paid a minimum of $5,838 per three-credit course they teach.
