Snowing down there?
I work for a school district so I got the marvelous 5 am phone call. Feel like crap with head cold so I think it's a day in jammies drinking tea and snuggling with warm cats. Hope you didn't have to drive in the snow today.

But, the reason I'm asking is that recently, someone tried to compare the number of police or Radnor Twp as having comparable needs to serve with that of Monroeville, where I am.

I should say that Monroeville has a large mall, major shopping centers along a business corridor, a convention center and 2 community hospitals, with the 2nd largest business intersection in the state.

I wasn't buying the comparison. Especially when I looked at Radnor. It looks (by stats I've seen) that Radnor is a more affluent bedroom community outside Philly with less intensive services. Radnor had budgeted 40 police for 2013 and Monroeville, by comparison is at 47 (was actually going to finish the hires this year to 50, where the 2013 budget was to guide it. Oh, and we have retired 7 officers this year and there will be 5 more going out first quarter of 2014, which leaves us at 45.

Anything you can add to compare the "intensity" of what police would need to do compared to what we have here? I don't think you the two are "comparable".

Thanks!

Radnor has three universities within its borders, including Villanova. It is probably similar in geography to Monroeville, but has more upscale residents. Most of its commercial uses are smaller, and extend along Route 30.

Old $$ Philly burbs and Villanova Univ., one of the highest-income areas around here. Where is Monroeville?

could technically be inside the MSA, since it's all Allegheny County… about 12 miles East of the Burgh.

the median house market and age is definitely less affluent in Monroeville Radnor as described above this. Judging from the Board of Commissioner meetings, Radnor is better educated and upscale.
