(6,819 posts)A friend of Tom Corbett is an enemy of mine. As noted in the link and other sources, Kane donated to Corbett's campaign for Governor.
Patrick Murphy is very independent and energetic.

I am open minded but I checked this out because a knowledgable person was supporting Kane, explained why to me, and I cannot believe that a) this person would support Kane knowing she contributed to Corbett; and b) this person would not know that she had contributed to Corbett, if it were true.
I wanted to ask this person about his support for her in light of this, but need a factual link first. I didn't find it in the article linked in the OP (but I may have missed it). An unsourced statement in that article is not sufficient.
Thanks.

(12,319 posts)I think we all want the next Attorney General to be someone who holds Tom Corbett's corrupt feet to the fire.
If a candidate contributed money to Corbett, then that person will not have the highest motivation, IMHO.
Please see post #22.

(7,237 posts)Though I was already pretty convinced I wanted Murphy and have supported his campaign... I simply could not vote for someone who supported Corbett in any way, therefore Kane is off the table for me. The man is a public menace and a disgrace to the Commonwealth. I haven't hated a politician this much since the unholy Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld triumvirate (when I couldn't decide which one of those $?&@#@! to hate most).
Hopefully, we are not in the minority in this. Wish we could get rid of Corbett before his tem is up.

(4,214 posts)I hope candidates realize how many PSEA members actually consider the names on these mailers and carry the list with them to the polls. Kane's donations to Corbett and the PSEA recommendation were the deciding factors for me.

(7,237 posts)Called my D-registered parents and urged them to not sit out the primary 'cause this one matters.
Parents are D in a red county so D primaries usually seem kind of pointless in their neck of the woods. Mom said "why bother"?
I said: "STATE AG. MURPHY. PLEASE VOTE!!! Think about how much we hate Corbett. We gotta get this done. Kane bad. Murphy good. Please research and consider."
Think I got 'em on board.
My pop will likely be working at the local voting place anyway, so am guessing he'd vote no matter what.
Sister is a bible thumpin' R. We still don't know how that happened. 3 out of 4 ain't bad...
I can't wait to VOTE!!!

It's an interesting article. No matter how despicable Tom Corbett's actions are, Brad Bumsted will find a way to excuse him...at this point he may be the only one left who is doing so.
It just shows Bumsted's single-mindedness. He's been an extreme right wing shill for decades now.
On edit: Bumsted and his bosses must be feeling mighty threatened at the prospect of Murphy being PA's Attorney General.
I like that!

(17,595 posts)I searched OpenSecrets and did not find that. (See my post upthread) It's possible I am missing something in the way I am searching that site, though.
I have no idea why she would have donated to Corbett, while donating to all those Democrats that she did donate to.
But I am completely open to seeing a link that proves it.
Edit to add: I did not watch the video posted near the top of this thread. I assumed it was a Murphy ad. Then I tried to watch it but saw it is 21 minutes long, and I don't have time right now. Is it in there, and Kane admits to it? If so, I'd appreciate if someone could post the time point in the video where that comes up, or a link to a transcript.

(6,819 posts)I don't have the link in front of me, but I did previously find it online from www.opensecrets. Katherine Kane donated $500 to the Tom Corbett for Governor campaign in 2010. If you watch Murphy's latest campaign commercial, they have video of Kane admitting it.

(65,169 posts)Kane contributed to Corbett and other Repukes, as well as hiring noin-union labor for the trucking company she owns.

(18,219 posts)sends out questionaires to all candidates so they can put together a Voter's Guide. Kane did not respond. That seals the deal for me. If she (or her campaign manager) doesn't think it is important to respond to the League so they can inform the voting public, I determine that they either don't give a shit about voters, or they are incompetent of organizing well....and they will need to be very well organized in the general election.

(2,185 posts)and he was great for us.
I could call his office with a concern,
speak to a real person,
and get results.
Now we have that numnutz Fitzpatrick
who gives me the run around, never get to speak to a real person
and yet includes me in his email list of bizarro
rightwing antics. Sheesh..
Murphy all the way.

(7,237 posts)But Kane had the support of the one man who counted most in this election: her husband, Chris, owner of a Scranton-based trucking company (nonunion, as Murphy aggressively pointed out) with the prosaic name of Kane Is Able. Her husband and other company officials pumped $2.25 million into the race.
That was an important one.
