Son of indicted judge decries prosecution

A son of Marion County Judge Vance Day has posted an essay online defending his father, claiming his indictment is politically motivated and the media's coverage of it is biased.

On Nov. 18, a grand jury indicted Day on two counts of felony firearms and official misconduct charges, allegations that relate to an earlier ethics case. Day has maintained his innocence, and a flock of supporters has come to his defense on social media.

In response to the indictment, Daniel Day, 26, wrote in an essay called "The Politics of Envy" that "powerful elites" turn to "political assassination" when threatened. The essay was posted to DefendJudgeDay.com, a website started by the judge's supporters to raise money for his legal defense, and publicized on a Facebook group for Day's supporters.

"When a group of powerful elites is tempted by envy’s vindictive promises, there is always one outcome – the pursuit of personal destruction," wrote Day, who lives in Salem.

2. Oh, please.

"Judge" Day got what was coming to him. Where's that rolls eyes thingie? Oh, there it is. We Oregonians are smarter than Day and his son ever gave us credit for. I for one will be very glad when the "judge" is off the bench for good.

Thanks for posting, TexasTowelie.

3. You're welcome

and even a Texan like myself knows what is going on behind the scenes when a son posts a statement like Daniel Day did. He realizes that he lost his get out of jail for free card and any other financial perks that are available with a parent who is a judge.
