Kathy Taylor (D) and Dewey Bartlett (R) in race for Tulsa Mayor

Thankfully, Bill Christiansen is out. Taylor received 42% of the vote, Bartlett 34%. To win, 50% plus one vote was necessary.

Now Kathy just has to deal with NRA supporting, Sarah Palin-loving Bartlett. She should be able to make short work of him, as his record isn't good, and he's supported many of the things Taylor initiated during her first term as Mayor.

Go Kathy!

She would need half of the Christensen votes. That will be hard.

If I were giving her advise I would say work in the background to keep her base, cut the ads unless Bartlett starts attacking, and hope for a low turnout. The reason I say cut the ads is that I hope some of the rabid teanuts will forget about the race. LOL

I spent some time at his FB page, and the posts there about Kathy Taylor are unreal. They don't like her because she's a Democrat, a female, wealthy, and the list goes on and on. I read one thread where they were going off about her house, and how its construction (over a decade ago) caused flooding problems that cost the citizens of Tulsa over a half million dollars to fix. (A neighboring house was torn down, but it seems the area may have had water drainage problems for many years before.)

The supporters seem like they want the Dewster to go after Kathy.

I think he may, because Christiansen brought up Bartlett's support of some Taylor policies when he took office, and he'll have to separate himself from that now. Christiansen's people really don't like Bartlett, but not sure if that's enough for them to cross over to the Taylor camp.

Taylor ran some great ads, much much better than the other candidates, but of course she can afford it.

Going to do what I can to make sure Kathy gets elected. I hope the rabid teanuts do forget about the race, their tiny little minds are stretched so far to begin with, so maybe we'll get lucky and they will!

my husband painted her house... took forever. He said they were great customers. Often rich people are hateful to service people.
They were gracious... as were other rich Democrats. The mean people are 100% Republicans... not exaggerating

Bartlett is rich too. Not as rich as the Lobecks... and it was given to him.
I better shut up... I could gossip about him too.

What is it with Tulsa and Republican Mayors? Bartlett has a 1970's John Ritter "Three's Company" hair cut, and LaFortune always looked like he slept on the floor in his suit!

I've heard the Lobecks are very nice, I have several friends who are good friends with Kathy, but I've never met her. I've been invited to parties where I could have met her and talked to her, but have always had conflicts.

Personally, I think the house that was torn down was nicer than the Lobeck house. It was built in the fifties, and was mid-century modern/contemporary--a style I really love!
