Pro-gun section scrubbed from Gov. John Kasich's website

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A pro-Second Amendment section of John Kasich's website was removed Sunday, after the Republican governor appeared on CNN and said reasonable gun control measures should be enacted following last week's deadly Florida school shooting.

JohnKasich.com, his political website that is separate from his governor's site, had previously contained text and photos illustrating how he opposed former President Barack Obama's gun control efforts and championing Ohio bills that he said removed burdensome restrictions for gun owners, according to screen shots captured by Ohio public radio journalist Karen Kasler.

That section had been scrubbed from the website by late Sunday afternoon.

Kasich adviser John Weaver said on Twitter that the former presidential candidate has new views.

7. Kasich was a congressman in the mid nineties.

Kasich was a yea vote on the now sun setted 1994 assault rifle ban. Indeed, he helped write it.

My theory that LaPierre and the NRA is merely a branch of the republican party was cemented when they endorsed Kasich four years ago over the former democratic governor, Ted Strickland. Strickland was also a congressman back in the day and opposed the ban. He has an A rating from the Gun Owners Association and the Buckeye Gun Owners Assn. The NRA is currently the only gun lobby that supports Kasich,

If John Kasich was faking anything, it's that he was opposed to gun control to maintain NRA support. Now that he's term limited and on his way out this fall, I think he no longer gives a shit (unless he thinks he'll need them in 2020).

I fully expect John Kasich to push for a new ban.

8. He has never impressed me.

His folksy demeanor is irritating. He is just another gop member, taking $$$ from anyone offering them, regardless of origin. After the Orange Mistake, we need a person in office with a spine, not a noodle. Politicians who bend with the way the wind is blowing are too weak to run the country. We need someone who can choose a strong cabinet of experienced people, not cronies willing to rip off taxpayers. Not someone who demands "loyalty", but to do what is best for the country.

but I'll have to say he's the best republican governor I've seen here in my lifetime. That field includes Kent State killer James A Rhodes and Tom Delay conspirator Bob Taft, so that's a low bar to hurdle, but aside from some overreach on public unions in his debut year, he's walked a moderate fence. The exception to that moderation is abortion. The anti-abortion movement has no greater friend than John Kasich. His fanatical religious beliefs that overshadow even Sam Brownback are one good reason to keep hm out of the White House

Though I'd actually be alright with another term compared to some former governors, we can and must do better. Richard Cordray, the former head of the CFPA is a hopeful candidate this fall. He's likely running against Mike DeWine, a republican with great name recognition in Ohio.

Still, I look for a change for the better in the Buckeye state this fall.
