UA director behind bars after authorities say he showed up intoxicated at a probation meeting for drunk-driving conviction
The head of the University of Akrons School of Communication is behind bars after authorities said he showed up intoxicated this week at a probation meeting for a drunk-driving conviction.
Theodore Avtgis, 48, appeared to be drunk on Monday when he arrived at a meeting with his probation officer in Ashland Municipal Court, according to court records.
When the probation officer asked Avtgis how he got to the meeting, he indicated he drove, records show.
The officer called police to investigate. According to court records, Avtgis blood alcohol level was .164. The legal limit in Ohio is 0.08.
