Gwen Chamberlain,
PENN YAN | U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand had a lot to say about the response from insurance companies to the May flooding in Yates County when she visited The Arc of Yates Friday afternoon. Not much of it was good.
Its absurd. Its ridiculous. Im so disappointed with the insurance companies. Its disgraceful and un-American, she said after hearing of one womans struggles with a flood insurance carrier.
Sitting in the middle of a large empty room where flooring and about 3 feet of sheet rock from the bottom of the walls had been removed as part of flood cleanup, Gillibrand met with officials from The Arc of Yates, other local officials and private property owners. She wanted to hear how her office can help secure support for flood recovery, saying, Insurance companies and the government are supposed to be here in times of great need.
While some of the discussion focused on the struggles of some private property owners, Gillibrand assured representatives from The Arc that she and her staff would advocate for the organization.

Some place much less special than hell for insurers, their CEOs, and the politicians that embolden them. (You realize insurers have no federal oversight, instead are under the control of the state where they are domiciled? Fifty of them...
