State to provide locals with more info on unidentified bodies

Jon Campbell

The overseer of New York’s fingerprint database will soon be giving local law enforcement more information about unidentified bodies whose prints don’t return a match.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday signed the Expedited Missing Persons Identification Act, which will require the state Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) to maintain an online portal with identifiable information—appearance, fingerprints, height, etc.—about unclaimed deceased bodies.
