MONTROSE, PA.Zephyr Teachout and Tim Wu crossed the state line into Pennsylvania on Wednesday afternoon to view a hydraulic fracturing facility, the third stop on their "whistleblower" bus tour.
"Right now, New York is at the crossroads about a very important decision: whether or not we're going to allow hydrofracking in our state," Teachout said, in a brief, unprepared statement. "Nothing compares to actually talking to people and seeing what's happening on the ground."
"It poisons our soil," she said. "And as F.D.R. said, 'A nation that poisons its soil poisons itself.'"

(71,265 posts)1. Teachout late to Binghamton on overbooked day
Conor Skelding
BINGHAMTONZephyr Teachout and Tim Wu arrived about an hour late to a planned campaign stop at a Binghamton cyber cafe, on the first afternoon of their "whistle blower" bus tour.
"I'm sorry I got here late," she said, to about 20 people, including members of the Sierra Club and the Public Employees Federation, and to local T.V. affiliates.
Both the Sierra Club and P.E.F. have endorsed Teachout's primary campaign against Governor Andrew Cuomo.
