Learning to love Ulysses S. Grant

Years ago, Steve Trimm had a grudge against the country’s 18th president, Ulysses S. Grant.

Trimm, of Albany, blamed the Civil War general for the death of his ancestor on the first day at the Battle of Shiloh, saying the Confederates launched an attack that Grant should have anticipated.

<snip>

Trimm made the trip from Albany to take a tour, “gritting my teeth,” then realized he didn’t know Grant at all.

<snip>

He is on a mission to educate people about Grant’s many sides. He assumes Grant’s character in performances at the cottage and regales visitors with tales of Grant’s personal and military history.

Mt. MacGregor is quite steep and we get a whole lot of snow in these parts.

And weekends through Columbus Day. I can't say I blame them, having attempted to drive that steep road in good weather.

But the last weather forecast I caught said we're due for some more hot weather. When I'm tempted to complain, all I have to do is remember last winter...

Think I told you that, drove the train at an amusement park, though I started my career there as Cinderella, LOL. Anyway, it got hot, but it was nothing like we've had recently. I don't think I could stand it today.

I still take a decongestant most days because I keep sneezing and my eyes run. I also always carry my inhaler, have three of them in different places so I always have access to one.

I used Advair for several years, but it was around $250 a month without insurance (cost me $30 with insurance) and I've been okay without it, just use my rescue Albuterol inhaler when I need it now. I also now own a nebulizer which makes me feel more secure, no longer have to go to the doctor or ER, but I've only found the need to use it when I've been sick.

Nor do I want to be one of those old ladies who have to drag an oxygen tank around with them.
