Mayor Bill de Blasio charged today that a congressional investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya has been inappropriately “politicized.”

The mayor, who remains close to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, rejected GOP claims that Ms. Clinton and the president misled the public about the 2012 attack that killed an American ambassador and three others.

“I think it’s been politicized, obviously, and I don’t think that’s appropriate when the lives of Americans overseas are the question,” Mr. de Blasio. a Democrat like Ms. Clinton, told the Observer at an unrelated press conference today.
