Dean Phillips calls for 'dynamic' new candidate for president in 2024, not Joe Biden

https://www.startribune.com/minnesota-u-s-rep-dean-phillips-calls-for-dynamic-new-candidate-for-president-in-2024-not-joe-biden/600194100/

I am really disappointed in him. Sure, we all know that at some point we will need a new candidate, a young one, but who?

The reality is that the Democratic leadership, some blame it on Obama, did not dedicate resources to promote young candidate.

Did not travel the country encouraging county commissioners, state executives to look into higher office.

Biden was the only one, in 2020, who assured us the presidency. None of the others would have won. And, yes, I supported Klobuchar to the end.

We had four governors - normally the pool for candidates - who barely made a dent. Why? because the debate stage was opened to the ones who made a splash on social media, like offering freebies. Oh, we had the guru who was talking about love and who promoted her book. She made it to several debates but Hickenlooper, Inslee, Bullock and Patrick barely made a dent?

I like him a lot very not quite as liberal as I'd like, but he did manage to beat a Republican incumbent in 2018 and win in a district that had been Republican since 1961. He's also very approachable & willing to listen to those who don't agree with a position he takes & does so respectfully.

I am disappointed he said this now - I'd think it best to keep these opinions quiet at least until after this year's election is over.

A Senate and Congress to back his/her agenda. Democrats should focus on electing democrats every where. Local house elections, Governors, Sec of State. That’s where we are most vulnerable. President Biden will be just fine.

...but who you gonna get? And you better settle on someone fast. We can't have a scrum of 10 to 15 like last time.

How bout this, Biden runs and wins a second term, then resigns in year six so Kamela Harris, who will have a lot more experience by then, can finish Biden's term and run for two full terms after that. Harris can then name her VP. Dick Durbin? Phil Murphy?
