Flint Water Crisis: Federal Help On The Way, Michigan National Guard Activated

"Seven days after declaring Flint, Michigan and the City's Toxic Water Crisis under a State of Emergency on January 5, Governor Rick Snyder (R) shortly following the conclusion of President Barack Obama (D) State of the Union Speech made a formal request for Federal Assistance.

A late in the evening Press Release sent out by Governor Rick Snyder's Office stated both the full resources of FEMA and the Michigan National Guard will be deployed to Flint dealing with residents immediate emergency needs, along with the American Red Cross Agency.

"Members of the National Guard are expected to start arriving in Flint as early as Wednesday to assist with response efforts and plan to increase to over 30 personnel by Friday." the Governor's office wrote.

"The support of the National Guard will enable American Red Cross volunteers, who have been staffing the water resource sites since Jan. 9, to join the efforts of the water resource teams going door to door in Flint neighborhoods to distribute bottled water, water filters, replacement cartridges and testing kits."

Gov. Dumbass' decisions. I wonder how many volunteers the gov can find to give therapies to the newly diagnosed children with developmental delays? Was the cost savings wirth it to him now?

Is lead a direct cause of any and all problems?

If not, expect denials, denials, and more denials.

Lead can lead to developmental issues and brain degeneration -- especially in children under six years old.

... is there a direct cause that THIS lead, from THIS water supply, etc, etc,

The state can deny, postpone, study, argue, wiggle, then deny.

The Veterans Administration handling of Agent Orange can be a fine example of how to dodge responsibility.

And as long as Republicans run the state, I think the state will move on this issue like they have lead in their feet, lead in their pants.

and reconnect to Detroit water? Filters, bottle water etc are just stop gap measures. The people especially the children need clean pure water.

Reconnected to the Detroit Water System BUT....the infrastructure is "burned toast" -- to use an analogy. The high levels of Chlorine corroded the pipes and especially the plumbing systems of personal and commercial properly in the area. Due to the delivery system itself being old (build prior to the 1950's) the pipes had a content of lead in it but was centralized to ensure the lead would not leak into the system AS LONG AS a breech of the infrastructure did not occur. However, the overabundance of Chlorine, did just that.

Hope this all makes sense. If not, let me know.
