MAYOR TOM MENINO HAS DIED.

Just happened. First Italian-American Mayor of Boston.

One of the finest mayors the city has ever seen. Cancer took him just days after he stopped treatment.

He'll lie in state at Faneuil Hall and be buried out of his neighborhood church.

He got up out of a hospital bed after surgery--left the hospital against doctor's orders--to respond to the Marathon Bombing crisis in the city.

He did a great deal of good for the City on Boston, and, as a result, the entire state was affected. He will be sorely missed.

He was a very caring and good man.

RIP Mayor Menino!

stories and memories...I feel rather bereft. He was a wonderful man, who really cared about the little neighborhoods. There isn't a corner of the city that doesn't look better as a consequence of his stewardship.

It's like losing a family member.
