Elijah Cummings's widow, Maya Rockeymoore, expected to run for his House seat.
'Rockeymoore, 48, who is currently the chair of the Maryland Democratic Party, has a history of political involvement and ran unsuccessfully for Maryland governor in 2017. She married Cummings in 2008.
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has 10 days to schedule a special election for Cummings’s seat and will likely set the date by the middle of next week, according to state political sources. The primary election is expected to take place next January and the general election in March. The winner of the special election will serve out of the remainder of Cummings’s term, which expires in December of 2020. A regularly scheduled primary for the following term will take place next April. Rockeymoore has not yet addressed the speculation that she will run for her husband’s seat.'>>> https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/elijah-cummingss-widow-maya-rockeymoore-expected-to-run-for-his-house-seat/ar-AAJ0BYi?

2. She sounds like a great choice.
I'm in a different congressional district (Steny's) so won't get a vote on the matter. But it would seem his widow would be the best person to carry on his work.
I found this interesting: a Wiki list of widows who succeeded their husband into office (maybe someday there'll be a list of widowers)... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Widow%27s_succession#United_States |

3. HI, neighbor! Neither will I be able to vote in the matter.
I actually live, most of the time, in Calvert County (Lusby,) but 'officially' and often in MoCo.
Yes, interesting list. ![]() |

4. Greetings from St. Mary's County!
I'm quite familiar with "the ranch club" and that area of Calvert.

5. And I'm familiar with some restaurants in St. Mary's!
I live on the river east of 'ranch club,' my daughter's closer to it than I.
