New legislation has been introduced to allow Iowans to buy machine guns and short-barreled rifles and machine guns (SF 108). "We haven't heard anything but support (for this)," commented Sen. Jason Schultz, the bill's sponsor. Sen. Schultz says he wants to bring Iowa's laws into line with federal laws. Tell Senator Schultz what you think: [email protected]

All these are meant for is killing in large numbers. Does everybody need one? I am not to worried though because when they realize the peasants are getting them to protect themselves from the government the government will reverse the rules.

I know the kGOP has been giddy with all the absolute power they think they have, but you know, those pesky laws that they cannot change is going to really start bump up against their alternative bubbles.

Do we now need to turn to the ATF for further clarification of why ordinary citizens just don't get one? There are limited licenses for those dangerous killing weapons.

This is pretty damn important. I lived and grew up about 25 miles SW of Bernard; my wife closer--about 15 miles SW of there, near Canton (unincorporated). There are long-standing legends of something called the "Canton Creep."

This account may be the origin of that legend.

Source me up and I'll begin writing an essay for Iowan or some obscure glossy rag!

I just happened to be looking through some old obituaries of family members on microfilm at the library and made a few copies of some. It wasn't until a couple years later when I was looking at them late one night that I realized that one of the neighboring columns to the obituary had this tale from Davey. I'll have to look and see if I can find the copies I made, which would allow me to match it up to a more specific date.

Wouldn't legislators be better protected if every citizen visiting was armed with as much firepower they could carry?
