GOP Reserves $1 Million of Television Time in Eastern Iowa

Gross! I hate political ads on my TeeVee!

They must think that creepy John Archer has a chance in the 2nd district to commit that much cash - wow!

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – A national Republican committee has reserved $1 million worth of television time in Eastern Iowa for the party’s congressional challengers.

One of the incumbents being targeted by the National Republican Congressional Committee, 2nd District Rep. Dave Loebsack, is using the reservation to ask for an “emergency donation.”

“I wouldn’t be writing if this weren’t important,” Loebsack wrote in a campaign email Thursday afternoon after the NRCC announced it had reserved $719,130 of television time in the 2nd District. “They think they can win. We need to show them they can’t.”

Loebsack’s plea follows a comment from NRCC chairman Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas, that he’s willing to invest $1 million in the 2nd District race “if you make a fight of it.”

...I hope our local TV stations are proud that they're accepting that blood money.

To the tv stations, money is money. The more, the better. Which is a shame because when I was young, the public dictated what we wanted on tv, not the other way around. Of course, politicians worked for us, we didn't work for them, as so many of them seem to believe now.

At first he struck me as a nice fairly normal guy. Then he started talking about his political views. That's when I got up and left because I seemed outnumbered at the time, even though this place is a known hangout for local Democrats as well as repukes.
