Forced off the exchange plan and on to Medicare. Looks like costs will at least 3X Coventry costs. The words "maximum out of pocket" are not to be found.
What a cluster trying to estimate costs of plans and drugs.
By the way disabled under 65 with a medical condition---doors closed on most medigap plans.

(23,156 posts)Basic Medicare is the same for everyone, unless there are different rules for those under 65, which I honestly don't know about.
I'm over 65, on Medicare, and I have an Advantage Plan which includes drug coverage, eye exams, and some dental. There's also a series of plans with alphabet letters, and others here use those so they can perhaps tell you a bit about them. Neither version is automatically superior to the other. It depends entirely on what your medical situation is, and what's available where you live.
The Medicare people will happily give you (if you go into a Social Security office) or mail you (if that's not convenient, a large booklet that tells you everything you need to know about Medicare. It will also list the additional plans at the back of that book.
I can tell you that I'm deliriously happy with Medicare, but my situation is different from yours.

(5,554 posts)In our zip code under 65 and a pre-existing condition underwriter said a choice of one Wellmark Plan A and one Coventry Advantage is all that is available.
If you are 65 or over all plans are offered. I've handled parents Medicare for years and it is a great deal but our ACA insurance was much better and it had a max out of pocket number that you could sleep at night. Drug costs are the gaping hole if you need the wrong drugs.

(12,869 posts)Are you sure you are on Medicare or possibly on Medicaid?
I got Medigap with preexisting MS. I don't think you can be turned down for Medigap if you apply when initially eligible for Medicare.

(35,324 posts)all the Medicare advantage plans are impossible to compare. I still pay for a Medicare Advantage plan through my union
just because of how complicated it is to shop for an alternative.

(62,406 posts)or group. Or maybe there is one in a larger county nearby.
I turned 65 last year and the Senior resource person in our county was extremely helpful.
They specialize in Medicare and prescription drug questions or he seemed to. They also have info on such items as meals on wheels etc.
Please respond if you see this or PM me and I will do all I can to help you.
Be very careful of "Medicare Advantage" - which I am guessing someone is trying to sell you. IMHO it is a total ripoff. This was developed by the W Bush group.
Medicare plan A & B plus a supplemental plan F should be what you are looking for.

(5,554 posts)Medicare Advantage looks very expensive for our situation. Hospital and Dr. accounting people have been very clear what they think is good and not so good. Small town so we know some of them.
