State lawmaker withdraws resolution calling for vote for Gorsuch

The Indiana Senate resolution asking for U.S. Sens. Joe Donnelly and Todd Young to vote for President Donald Trump's Supreme Court pick was withdrawn Thursday.

State Sen. James Buck, R- Kokomo, was the author of legislation that called for Donnelly and Young to approve Judge Neil Gorsuch.

Before withdrawing his resolution on the Senate floor, he said he never intended to "embarrass" either senator.

"Knowing that my colleagues may think there's political mischief at foot and that I'm trying to embarrass either Sen. Young or Sen. Donnelly, that’s not my intent," Buck said. "If that in fact has happened and entered into one's mind, I want that to be assured that’s never been my attempt, and as such I've withdrawn the resolution."
