I lived in Tallahassee for 7 years. It's a great place to raise a family! I'm sick of Trump andLast edited Mon Oct 22, 2018, 06:28 AM - Edit history (1)
DeSantis claiming it’s crime infested and one of the most corrupt cities in America. People of “Tally” need to rise up against these lies and vote!!!

1. I thought he must have pissed off Tally with that one
Also, the stats he cited were from the internet - a google search. I mean......please. There are official sources.
Tally DID have the highest crime rate for several years (surprising to most, there). But it has crept down a bit. Some of that is the college - but a lot of it is poverty and lack of opportunity. (Think South Side). I lived there for about 15 years and never felt unsafe (had a house and raised my daughter there - we just left about 1.5 years ago). I wasn't fond of it (I'm a New Englander, at heart) but I was fond of our friendly little neighborhood. And our friendly little neighborhood has one of the highest voting turnouts in the state. ALWAYS. I can promise that they won't be voting for Desantis in droves ![]() I'd be interested to see how the Tallahassee Democrat views those comments, in the paper today. He has pissed off a lot of democrats in Leon! |

2. Absolutely the colleges have something to do with it.
When you put 2 universities with a total of 75K college kids in a town of 250K (general estimates on my part), there’ll be crime when young kids do dumb things. And, yes, certain parts of town struggled as well...like everywhere. But overall it’s a wonderful little corner of the state to live in.
