How to vote on Florida Amendments

I recently attended a monthly meeting of a local Women's Democratic Club. They had a speaker from the League of Women's Voters. He went over each Constitutional Amendment that will be on Florida's ballot in November. He also distributed a handy reference guide to help us in the voting booth.

As you are probably aware, many amendments are written in such a way to make them sound as if they positively impact progressive issues but in fact would have just the opposite impact

So to help you out, here is a copy of the handy reference card.

Here is an explanation of what a Yes or No vote would mean.

2. I'm voting YES on #12

but agree with the rest.

The Tampa Bay Times says most of these things don't belong in the Constitution and we should only vote YES on #4. League of Women Voters pretty much agree with the voting above.

3. Much appreciated

I'm expecting my absentee ballot in a week or so since I'm leaving town for a few weeks. This will be a big help to expedite the voting process

6. I'm seeing lots of commercials for Yes on 3

The casino gambling amendment. Not much air time regarding others, unless I simply haven't seen them

I'm biased in favor of Florida approving sports betting. Given the makeup of the legislature I'm not expecting it

10. Amendment #8 was missing from my absentee ballot

Simply not there. I don't understand why. I am in Miami. It skipped directly from 7 to 9. I was extremely careful checking and checking again. That amendment was nowhere on my absentee ballot.

Regarding the justices, I realize it's a waste of time since they will virtually always be retained but I looked them all up individually and they were appointed by Rick Scott so I voted No.

13. Vote NO on Amendment 6

Glad that this sample ballot shows the same thing. There is something really off about this "Victim's Rights" law. Why are they bundling it with other items?
Also included:
The proposed amendment would also raise the mandatory retirement age for judges from 70 to 75. Lastly, it would require judges to decide if a state agency correctly interpreted the law.

https://www.browardpalmbeach.com/news/election-2018-activists-say-rights-of-crime-victims-amendment-would-favor-corporations-limit-rights-of-the-accused-9934241?fbclid=IwAR0lN8GvhNSTBbjrjZqA2QInEiEc9hJMhHxdBzQM6-rnzjBzrcboBHIrB-E

Victim's Rights are already available to us. So why is this needed again??

14. Can someone elaborate on how Amendment 12 is a bad thing?

I agree with everything else on here, I'm not sure about this one?

15. You can read more about the amendment here.

Lof Women Voter in Florida take no position; Yes or No.
https://www.lwvfl.org/amendments/amendment12/

Democratic party of Florida is a solid no.
https://www.progressivefl.org/dpcf-2018-amendments/

Actually this is a toss-up. While the amendment imposes restrictions on lobbying, which is a good thing, it doesn't address the real issue of the amount of money lobbyist pay to public office officials.

Guess you have to decide if half an apple is better than none.
