FBI asks Tallahassee officials about scrapped CNG project

The FBI is looking into an abandoned city of Tallahassee project to build its own Compressed Natural Gas fueling station as part of the agency’s ongoing investigation into possible public corruption.

FBI agents last month interviewed Terry Lowe, a longtime city fleet manager, and David Ging, an energy resource administrator and city point person on the CNG project. During both of the conversations, the FBI gave no indication that they were focused on the staff members themselves.

The FBI interviews with Lowe and Ging are the first with city officials to come to light in the probe. The agents asked broad questions about the city's CNG project, scrapped at the 11th hour. The deal had financial ramifications for Nopetro, a company with ties to City Commissioner Scott Maddox.

Lowe told the Tallahassee Democrat he met with two agents and a city attorney at his office in early October. He was unsure of the exact date, but it came days before he suddenly retired on Oct. 13.
