A new regime is coming into power in America, and the Mickee Faust Club is spoiling for a fight.
This means WAR! squeaks Mickee Faust, the cigar-puffing, rodent leader of Tallahassees community theater for the weird and queer community. Theres room for only one foul-mouthed, temperamentally unstable, cartoonish would-be dictator in this country and it aint gonna be Orange Julius! Yeah, he has the military might of the entire United States behind him. So what? Weve got hold your breathhumor and satire on ours!
Mickees first strike in this mortal combat will be the Mickee Faust Clubs Inaugural Bawl on Friday, January 20, 2017, at The Warehouse, 706 West Gaines Street. Yep, Faust chortled.
Im holding my own Inaugural on the very same night he-who-shall-not-be-named is holding his! Thatll show him!
The Warehouse doors open at 7pm with foot-stomping music by Eclectic Acoustic. The Mickee Faust Club and their invited guests take over the Warehouse stage at 7:30pm for a night of biting, funny and emotionally charged performance. In addition to the Faustkateers and their repertoire of political medleys, FSU English professor Virgil Suarez will be the honorary poet laureate for the evening. The line-up also features Black on Black Rhyme, Cap Six, Diane K. Roberts, Susan Cerulean, Chuck Hobbs, Petra Doan, Susan Anderson, The Hispanic Grad Students Association, Artangles by Deborah Desilets, and Tallahassee Hispanic Theater. Fausts in-house band, Rodentia Preharmonium will play post-show for anyone who wants to stick around and dance their hearts out.
This is the fourth time the Mickee Faust Club has hosted a night of performance and music to mark the transition of power in Washington, D.C.
The first B-A-W-L was in January, 2001, after the U.S. Supreme Court ended the recount in Florida and awarded the presidency to George W. Bush, explains Donna M. Nudd, the troupes executive producer. Tallahassee had been at the epicenter of all the political wrangling for over a month, and the people in this deeply blue city really needed to experience a kick-ass catharsis.
The flavor of this Bawl will be little different, promises Mickee. This time were going to catharsis ourselves into a coalition of bad-ass, rabble-rousers united in resisting this new regime through Artthe Art of standing up, speaking out and making fun.
Tickets to the Inaugural Bawl are available through the Mickee Faust Clubs website, www.mickeefaust.com. Please note, The Bawl is at the Warehouse on Gaines, NOT the Mickee Faust Club in RR Square. Admission is $15 for the general public, $10 for students, retirees, and people with disabilities. Dont just cry in your beer. Laugh. Organize. And party like theres no tomorrow.
