The caucus had slipped my mind, then I saw your post. Went today- in Martin County.

There was a good turnout, nice array of people. I got to see people I haven't seen since the 2008 campaign. Since this may be the only thing I can do for the campaign this year, it was worth it!

I just moved down from New Jersey. Never had caucuses there- so asked for and received an explanation of how it worked.

I got there in the last hour, so there weren't many people around. There were 6 female candidates for 6 slots and 8 male candidates for 6 slots, so the only real contest was for the male electors. Of course, being new to the area I didn't know any of the people involved. They were listed alphabetically, so I picked the bottom 6 thinking that might compensate for somebody who checked off the top 6 just because it's easy...

But a local group had lots of good explanation on how it worked. This was formed by volunteers with OFA from the 2008 election who wanted to maintain a group that would work on local issues as well as state and national - OFA was only interested in national level. They've been really good about giving local liberals a voice in things.

For the 33 delegates Leon County had, they had a slate of 20 delegates. The old establishment DLC types had their slate with only a couple of overlaps. I voted for the 20 liberals, then selected 13 more out of the people NOT on the DLC list.
