US Marshals patrol the area outside federal court in Washington, Wednesday, July 2, 2014, where Libyan militant Ahmed Abu Khattala, charged in the deadly attack at the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, is being held for a detention hearing.

Ahmed Abu Khattala is headed back to Virginia after a court appearance. A fleet of black Chevy or GMC SUVs just left the courthouse headed north on 3rd Street NW. Just after they passed under the Department of Labor's Frances Perkins Building, they made a right to go onto I-395 southbound, via the 3rd Street Tunnel beneath the Mall. Homeland Security had the intersection of 3rd Street and D Street blocked, just in case anyone had any ideas. He's being kept in Alexandria.
