LAKEWOOD — Three conservative school board members who swept into power two years ago were ousted Tuesday night in a hard-fought recall election that attracted national attention and spending estimated to exceed $1 million.

More than 90,000 votes so far had been counted in the first release of results. Two-third of those who had cast the ballots counted chose to recall Ken Witt, Julie Williams and John Newkirk by nearly thirds.

Been watching this, as my sibs and I went through JeffCo schools back in the '50s and '60s. I could not have been more proud as those students lined up for miles in public protest of these school board members' shenanigans.

This is a major win for JeffCo students, and a significant loss for the Koch brothers. Sweeeet!
