fundraiser for Fresno's Center for Nonviolence (the progressive hub). Sat May 5th

Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m. at Spectrum Gallery, 608 E. Olive in the Tower District.: “Being Me: a day in the life” - a theatrical fundraiser on behalf of the Fresno Center for Nonviolence.

Monologues written by Richard Stone, based on interviews with people he knows (mostly from Fresno), will be presented in a staged reading adapted and directed by Thomas-Whitt Ellis, of the CSUF Theater Department. The presentation features students from Dr. Ellis’s classes, and reveals thoughts and actions of individuals on a typical day at a specific time in their lives-- from what they think upon waking to what motivates and thwarts them, from how they choose their clothes to how they evaluate their lives.

There will be a Q and A with the author after intermission. A donation of $5.00 to $10.00 is requested. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Good to see, especially for those of us on the coast. Much of the perception of the SJ Valley here is a common given - that ultra-conservative "other", over the hills from the coast. Or in a different context - home.

Reality is always more diverse. I'm in SLO County and half of our voters are registered Republicans. It's not as clear cut as commonly assumed.

A question - Are there active GOTV / registration campaigns going on in Fresno County? ~ pinto

so many have no idea of the progressives who fight and work to bring justice in the heart of the beast.

and these people need and deserve support from progressive communities from other parts of CA.

and then those from other states think all of CA are liberal. i"m constantly educating others about the Central Valley.

but yes.. the progressives have been growing trying to get out the vote.
