Napa Police decoys persuade 4 adults to buy alcohol for youths

Napa Police conducted a “Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation” Saturday night, using a minor to ask adults to buy them alcohol from four local liquor and convenience stores.

Of 20 adults contacted, four purchased alcohol for the decoy, police reported.

The adults were arrested and released with a citation for furnishing alcohol to a minor in violation of Business & Professions (B&P) 25658(a), a misdemeanor punishable by a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service, police said.

The decoy program is intended to reduce the availability of alcohol to underage youth.
