Nearby mountains steer weather patterns in a SW to NE direction -- close-by tornadoes almost always pass to our NW and hit an area known locally as "Tornado Alley". Tornadoes south of us tend to be very far away.

and now a confirmed tornado passed over our cabin, and then ballooned up into the storm that caused, and is still causing, most of the problems.
When it passed over our place, it was just a minor thunderstorm, no hail,
but we were issued a "Tornado Watch" for it.

Glad you were/are safe.
The Severe Weather season seems to be starting early this year.

We really didn't have a Winter. We burned less wood to keep warm that ever before...50% less. While it is enjoyable physically to be able to work outside in a tee shirt in Jan and Feb, it ain't right.....
In fact, it is kinda frightening.

Our fruit trees have bloomed too, and I just KNOW we will have the April freeze that will kill the young fruit.
We used to have a reliable planting calendar for our veggies, but everything has gone to hell over the last couple of years.
Now, it is You plant your seeds, and take your chance.

My grass did not even grow much last year, summer was too cool. This winter I don't remember it getting to freezing . Too much screwed up.

A tornado once missed my sister's house by about the same distance.
March/April is tornado season in Arkansas.
