Watch 'Peace in the Valley,' a new documentary about the Eureka Springs civil rights ordinance

"Peace in the Valley" is a new, 15-minute documentary directed by Michael Palmieri and Donal Mosher and produced by The Intercept, the online publication launched last year by Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras and Jeremy Scahill. The film was commissioned as part of the Intercept's Field of Vision series of short nonfiction features. "They said — so there’s this town, there’s this vote, and there’s this big Jesus on a hill,” Palmieri said in an interview. “And we said OK.” The film features interviews with locals, activists on both sides of the anti-discrimination ordinance debate, and scenes from the city's Great Passion Play.

Watch the film here (I genuinely recommend it), and read David Koon's April cover story for more context.

I miss Eureka Springs. It was always a warm and welcoming place with lots of places to explore. Even after many day and weekend visits, I can say that I've never had to suffer through the Passion Play. I've much preferred sitting in a parking lot in the evenings watching movies on the side of a building
