Court: Phoenix wedding-invitation company cannot refuse service to same-sex couples

PHOENIX - Attorneys for a Phoenix wedding invitation business plan to appeal a court ruling that compels the company to provide service to same-sex couples.

Lawyer Jonathan Scruggs of the group Alliance Defending Freedom said the Arizona Court of Appeals' decision on Thursday forces artists to do work contrary to their core beliefs.

A Phoenix city ordinance prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

The owners of Brush & Nib Studio claimed in a 2016 lawsuit that the city law violates their freedom of speech and religion. The owners are Christians.

Look, these bigots aren't going to go away. More will continue to slither to the surface as long as the republicans are in power.

Also, consider the recent SCOTUS decision, however limited it may (or may not) be, depending on whose commentary you believe. If similar decisions come out of future lawsuits, this will only embolden the bigots and so-called Christians.

So, skip the lawsuits. Ask up front if the business if they will serve gays, POC, mixed race, interracial, etc., etc., etc. If they don't, walk out and then publicize the crap out of that experience. Get a booth at the next bridal fair and publicize it. Go to all the other bridal vendors and get them to publicize their own "all are welcome here" policies. Place ads in the newspapers, local magazines, and more.
Let your friends and family know so that they can exercise their rights of free speech and let others know of the bigots and their policies. Sure, there's no lawsuit, and we who are not in the area of the offending business may not learn about it, but those who need to know do find out, and then let the market do its thing.

Justice is served: google.com/amp/s/amp.azc…. No one has the right to discriminate for any reason.

The two proprietors express their love of their art..too bad they cannot express their love for ALL!!!

Or Jewish, or atheist... it's a slippery slope.
