Tucson for six years, Phoenix four years, and yep. Those things are quite normal.

And some of them are true, or quite similar in my current state of residence, New Mexico.

As for gorgeousness, a friend of mine who's lived his entire life on the east coast finally got out to visit me a year or so ago, and he simply could not get over the beauty of the landscape. This is NOT a "my state is prettier than your state" comment, but rather a one on just how fabulous this part of the country is. He actually visited me once when I lived in Phoenix, but we didn't get outside of the city, and so he didn't really get to see how lovely that desert can be.
