(20,043 posts)that's difficult to answer I like them all for different reasons. I don't know...they're all so different. Horror, fantasy, crime drama...
Do you have a favorite?
I think Claire Danes did/does a fantastic job in Homeland. Jessica Lang is great in American Horror Story. So much good tv..LOL

Little Star

(17,742 posts)Though, it doesn't matter, she would have won it no matter what, unless if maybe Meryl Streep did a TV show.
Yeah, she totally deserved it and it would have been a shock if she didn't get it.

(21,726 posts)Where is Breaking Bad and Justified?
Duer 157099
(17,742 posts)I couldn't believe that Damian Lewis was up for best actor! He was great in Band of Brothers, but his acting just absolutely sucked in Homeland, I could barely stand watching him.
Did Justified get any nominations?
And I think Game of Thrones should have easily won, if not Boardwalk Empire.
Sheeesh.

(12,287 posts)I sense many DU'er also find it intriguing. A very plausible....sleeper cells.....the characters are complex....its political ....yea...many here like Homeland very much.
Ohio Joe
(21,726 posts)It did indeed have a very good concept but... They really blew it in my mind on a few fronts. The first half of the season was not much more then giving a twist for the sake of the twist... Is he a terrorist, is he not a terrorist, yes, no, yes, no, come on, get on with it. So much opportunity to advance the story or give some real complexity to the characters wasted. Then it started to really move the story along and it went from good to great but... Whoever made the choice to continue the same story line into a second season, made that choice way to late and they completely blew the ending. It was a total let down to what should have been a very exciting and dramatic end. An ambigious ending can work fine but here they have dug a hole that not only screwed the set up but makes any continuation wildly outside of reality. The entire Claire Dane story line was to show that her illness not only should not dis-qualify her from her job but in some ways made her great at it but the ending screwed that completely. Nobody... Not even she should have any idea that she was right so there is no logical reason for anyone (even her) to want to continue to look at Damian Lewis, so he should be free to go about his next plot. They also have the huge obsticle to over come of... How do they involve her in the investigation at all going forward... She should be out and have no way of getting back in... It will be hokey.
Then there is the whole plot itself... It was just stupid. Convert two US service men to become involved in a suicide attempt on the VP because he is an evil murderer of children... OK, I'm with it... Have the plan be to have a sniper shoot someone so that all the important people run into a shelter where the second guy will blow them all up... um... What? No, a much better plan would have been to kill the VP while the cameras were rolling with the sniper and while still on TV have the suicide bomber go off... It may not kill as many of the important people but would have had a much bigger impact.
Ending season one with Damian coming in for a camera closeup while there is hysteria going on, giving his final words and blowing himself up would have been a far better way to go. Eliminates bad guys, allows them to introduce a new plot and can repracussions from season one echo throughout.
Don't get me wrong, it was not a bad show, just not on the level of any of the shows it was up against (and some that did not even make the list) and should not have won.

Onceuponalife
(2,614 posts)but I don't consider it the best. Top 10 probably. The best is probably Breaking Bad, followed in no particular order by Boardwalk Empire, Parenthood, Damages and Treme.
