I finally watched the last few episodes of True Blood...

I don't have HBO...a friend taped them...I finally picked up the tape.

I wasn't thrilled...especially about the witches...that was a dumb storyline. They need to realize they need tof ocus on the vampires because that's what people find interesting. Sorry they killed off Tommy...he was an interesting little shit!

About half way through, I turned to my wife and said, "I just realized I don't really care what happens."

It all seemed utterly inane and pointless.

Its like mind candy. Its just a fun popcorn type show. I love the dark comedy and the over-the-top acting style. It makes it one of the most fun hours of my week when its on. The witches were fun to me. I liked the idea of all the old priests in old europe being vamps. But most of all, I loved the acting by Fiona Shaw.

That last episode was a blood-bath. I am looking forward to the return of Russel Edgington.

Still, it just wasn't a great storyline, IMHO. Glad Russell may be back, and I'm really glad Steve the preacher will be too.

While the books may not follow the storyline exactly, Alan Ball has been clear that the books are the guide and that he changes them, but stays true to a lot of the lore in the books.

I'm pretty angry that you let slip something obviously negative happens to this character in teh books. Please keep that information out of non-spoiler threads. It will drive lots of posters away.

Thank you for being understanding. I understand that the books are indeed different, and that the coming season drifts the furthest so far from the books. I am not a fan of Harris' writing, so I will probably skip them. But even the differences in the books that have already aired as seasons, there is enough base material there to spoil a lot. There are threads in the lounge and in other forums about the books, so there are already lots of places to discuss them. If you want to start a thread about what might happen to russell on the tv series based on the books, I think lots of people will love it, but if you put spoiler in the title, lots of people will just avoid it.
anyway, I appreciate you being understanding about spoilers. Have a good day.

Yeah, I didn't care for the books...I just read them when i was waiting for this season to start...that said, do you really think the show will bring Russell back? He was a fun character and very interesting...my prediction is that the storyline will be about who set him free...that is totally a guess of mine, not based on anything I've seen or read...I mean, it's clear Eric and Bill have become partners in crime, so maybe it's someone who wants to get back at them...

Pam indicated someone in power in the current regime (the so called "authority" ) was not truly on board with the authority's plans. She also said that Eric knew what she was talking about. Alan Ball has a habit of setting up the next season with little tidbits of info like that. I suspect eric and Bill spend next season working with someone to change the power at the authority. Maybe Russell will wind up being temporarily teamed with them, but eventually russell or eric have to kill one another.

if she's going to try for revenge...could she be the one who unearthed Russell...she'd be one of the few who knew he was there. Also, it appears as if they may try and bring back the fairies...that seemed, for a while, like it would be a main storyline in this season...then Eric ate her.
