Treme -- anybody watching?

I loved the first two seasons. Didn't get a chance to start season three until this weekend, when I managed to catch up with the first five episodes. I'm glad they've renewed for a fourth and final (if abbreviated) season ...

the music alone with cameos of Dr. John, Steve Earle etc is worth it. Next season is the last? That sucks. I still miss Bored To Death - Ted Danson was great!

comment about it in Entertainment Weekly and worried it was a bad sign, since they usually get it right on the actual good ones (despite thinking a lot of crap is good.)

4. I do... but, seriously, it became too much an insider's show to ensure its success beyond critical

acclaim. My sister and I love it because we both frequent NOLA a great deal both pre-and post-Katrina--and have followed the "real life" story lines all along, which Treme accurately depicts. But, even so, some of the more obscure aspects of the music scene--especially the alternative music-- is hard to follow or not particularly interesting. We are friends of friends of a noted NOLA chef and have had the opportunity to share a meal with him and his fellow chefs at an up and coming new establishment. So, that aspect of Treme rings very true--but might be less than interesting to most viewers--and honestly, I've never lived somewhere where there was more emphasis on food than in New Orleans. (Grateful for that, too, as I'd probably be 300 pounds!)

That said, I will be sorry to see it end after its shortened season next year. I hated it when they killed off John Goodman's character, though recognize the message intended--and even more so after Steve Earle's character was killed.
