1. I don't have much use for new country. I'm mostly a classic rocker. If I must listen to country,

give me some Merle Haggard, Willie, Waylon and some of those guys. Asleep at the Wheel and some of what was called country rock back in the day too.

I'm looking forward to seeing that. I've seen most of the Burns documentaries and even stuff I wasn't that hot to see, like The Dustbowl, turned out to be fascinating. Most people think prohibition was a huge mistake, but after seeing the documentary, it's easy to see how it came to be passed. Drinking was way out of control. Prohibition at least toned it down some after they repealed it.

3. I agree.

If I listen to country at all, it is the older stuff. I think the new stuff is filled with buzz words and concepts designed to sell songs more than to create something musical.

I am mostly a blues fan anyway.

4. Prohibition also led to the rise of organized crime

so the toning down likely wasn't worth the fallout.

2. My mom loved the old style

Country.
Patsy Cline was playing when she died.

5. I'll watch. Country music isn't exactly my cup of tea, but I might learn something ...

Only a "moran" discounts something without at least giving it a chance.
