1. Is he a Blue Merle Aussie? Pretty eyelashes and fur growth patterns around the eye.

2. Thanks for asking Ziggysmom!

Shadow is one half blue heeler, one quarter border collie, one quarter a combination of golden retriever, austrian white shepard and alaskan malamute.

If you search google for Democratic Underground McGovern Shadow a bunch of older postings should come up. She has some other older posts in Photography, but mostly Shadow's pictures are in Pets.

13. Bet her doggie IQ is off the charts...

..with that kind of pedigree!

I've had 2 Border Collies and know how intelligent, perceptive, & sensitive they are.

Respect! 🐕

4. She is so pretty and unique!

And such lovely long eyelashes! Gorgeous the way her multicolored fur swirls around, too.

7. Ah, George, you just don't play fair. Another amazing photograph.

And while I think Shadow is one of the best doggy models ever, I think her photographer has a lot to do with it. By the way, what camera do you use?

10. Well heck, Biophilic -- it's just sometimes I get on a roll, y'know?

Thank you for your kind words. Glad I can pass on some beauty and even joy.

I use two cameras: a used Olympus E-M1 Mark II with an 80-300mm f2.8 and a used Olympus E-M10 Mark II with a 24-90mm f/4.0. I shot with Nikon cameras for more than 35 years, from film to digital; however, the older I got the heavier the full-frame digital bodies and zoom lenses got to be. Plus I had been dealing with specks of dust in the pictures on computer and it got tedious getting rid of them not in every image, but too dang many that even using sensor cleaning kits just got tiresome.

Subsequently, I found out that Olympus makes mirrorless cameras and micro 4/3 lenses, all of which are much lighter and therefore easier to handle than were my Nikon monsters. Also, Olympus is renowned for their sensor dust prevention!

Sold all my Nikon gear and purchased the aforementioned kits and photography has become FUN again!

12. Well you've certainly got a great roll going now. Thanks for including the rest of us

so we can enjoy it also. And thanks very much for the detailed camera and lens information. Once upon a time a million years ago or so I actually was good enough to sell some some of my work. Every now and then I think it's time to try my hand at it again. Not quite ready yet, but sort of gathering steam, so to speak. It is honestly so much fun looking at really good photography. Besides, I've become very fond of Shadow.

9. Ah, this is the perfect portrait, my dear George! She is so lovely.

And you have captured her eye beautifully. I love her swirling fur and the amber glint in her eye.

Wonderful!
